This ’61 Corvette was imported from the USA in 2015 and has since undergone a full mechanical restoration by a Sydney Corvette Specialist to original Specifications. It also has had a complete interior makeover. The only changes are Power Assisted front Disc Brakes for safety, Electronic Ignition and Holley equivalent Carburettor. The car has both hard and soft tops.
It is powered by the original 283 cubic inch 230 Hp V8 motor coupled to a four speed transmission.
The Chevrolet Corvette C1 is the first generation of the Corvette Sports car which was introduced in 1953 and produced through to 1962. Quad headlights were introduced in 1958
It is commonly referred to as the Solid Axle generation as the independent rear suspension did not appear until the 1963 Stingray.
Debuting in 1961 was a new boat tail (sometimes referred to as the Duck Tail) design later used on the C2 Stingrays, and included four tail lights, a treatment continued to this day.
1961 was the last year for the contrasting paint colours in the Cove areas.
