The Isuzu Bellett is a sub-compact 4 cylinder car produced by the Japanese manufacturer Isuzu between 1963 and 1973. Designed by Isuzu, the Bellett replaced the Isuzu Hillman Minx, manufactured by Isuzu under license with the Rootes Group.
The 3 variants which were imported into Australia between 1965 and 1969 were the 4 door 1500cc sedan, the 2 door 1600cc GT coupe and the 1500cc 2 door ‘wasp’ utility.
These compact family vehicles really provided a fresh looking variation to the Australian, British and American vehicles available during the 1960’s. Reasonably well priced, they had great overall performance and reliability which the Australian market took well to.
This particular example is one of only a few driveable early series (PR90 type) in Australia today. It was built in September 1966.
I own an original white 1968 model as well.
